Volunteer & Surf Trip to Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica

Feb/Mar 2010

In February & March 2010 Surf For Life volunteer teams are heading to Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. Every week a new team of volunteers is helping hand-on with construction and community projects benefiting the children of the indigenous BriBri tribe. Although Puerto Viejo thrives with tourism, the BriBri people live under severe conditions in the adjacent mountain region. Apart from extreme poverty (by UN standard), medical needs and illiteracy, the BriBri children have no way to attend Puerto Viejo’s schools regularly since the remote mountain paths leading to town are often impassable or flooded.  Surf For Life is committed to helping volunteers participate in meaningful social and economic development projects designed to benefit the Bri Bri and the community of Puerto Viejo.

And now we need you to make them reality!

Volunteer, Fundraise & Surf:

Be part of this awesome opportunity to make a hands-on difference in the community of Puerto Viejo!  Join us in the construction and remodeling of schools & community facilities, building bridges, maintaining trails and helping out with social services such as the local soup kitchen.  Fundraise at home and in your local community to finance your volunteer efforts.  And in your off-time in Costa Rica enjoy world class surf on guided tours, learn surfing and/or participate in many other fun outdoor activities!
